Description

KICEF-CV is a prescription antibiotic that combines cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, with potassium clavulanate, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Cefixime acts against susceptible bacteria by interfering with formation of their protective cell walls. Clavulanate helps block certain bacterial enzymes that can reduce the activity of beta-lactam antibiotics. A doctor may consider this medicine for suitable bacterial infections affecting the respiratory tract, throat, ears, urinary tract, or other areas, depending on the suspected organism and local treatment guidance. It does not treat colds, influenza, or other viral infections.

Take KICEF-CV only in the dose and for the duration prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional. Swallow the tablet with water and follow any instructions regarding food printed on the pack or provided by the prescriber. Take each dose at the recommended time and complete the prescribed course, even when symptoms begin to improve. Do not stop treatment early, change the dose, share the tablets, or use leftover medicine for another illness. In case of a missed dose, follow the doctor’s or pharmacist’s advice rather than taking an additional tablet. Unnecessary or incomplete antibiotic use can encourage resistant bacteria and make future infections more difficult to treat.

Before taking KICEF-CV, inform the doctor about any allergy to cefixime, cephalosporins, penicillins, clavulanate, or other medicines. Also disclose kidney or liver disease, a history of antibiotic-associated colitis, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and all prescription medicines, supplements, or herbal products being used. Common effects associated with cefixime may include diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, indigestion, gas, or vomiting. Seek urgent medical care for difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, fainting, severe rash, blistering, or peeling skin. Contact a doctor promptly if diarrhoea becomes persistent, watery, or bloody, or if severe abdominal cramps develop during or after treatment. Kidney problems may require changes to the treatment plan, so the prescriber should assess kidney function where relevant. Tell the doctor about anticoagulants such as warfarin or medicines such as carbamazepine, as additional monitoring may be necessary. Store the tablets in their original packaging, protected from excessive heat and moisture, and keep them away from children. Do not use the medicine after its expiry date. The exact uses, dosage, frequency, and duration should always be determined by the prescribing doctor according to the infection and the patient’s medical condition.
